Instead we'll wait until the seedlings are more mature and have strong root systems and put them in the ground w/o their little containers. Not sure when. Probably when the mood strikes. We don't really have a science to it. I have found that making mini green houses out of clear plastic cups turned upside down with the bottoms cut out protects them from rabbits and birds in the early stages.

How big do you let them get before you transplant them? I had a small but successful garden last year and am looking to extend this year…I'm glad you're posting about it b/c I need all the ideas I can get!
