Vivienne,
This journey is definitely not for the faint of heart! You are not alone.

I have more let our daughter take the lead. Some days i am fine with connecting but others i am not. I definitely still have stuff to deal with as the thought of her moving home makes me want to sit shaking in the corner!

Hi Susan!

Thanks for stopping by. We have an annual Grinch Reading at Christmas and a crab feast at the beach in the summer. Our older kids who are working can’t always make it, but they’re like the only 2 traditions that I’m emotionally attached to. Fortunately for them, there’s great food and fun at both, so I don’t get any pushback. I also try to be flexible during the events too. Like I don’t expect extensive small talk and interaction from my kids with social anxiety.

Does that make sense?

I could have used this advice at our family weekend. Just curious what are the two things that are mandatory ish?
