Things to which I'm Addicted

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

  1. Eavesdropping.  I’m nosey.  It doesn’t matter how I try to be like those people who really don’t care, I still do.  Although it’s beneficial sometimes, usually it just gets me in trouble.
  2. The Computer.  Okay, more specifically the Internet.  I like efficiency and psuedo-connecting with people.  The Internet gives me that.  It also offers me escape from my kids…virtually.  I admit, I am waaaaaay too dependent on it.  But knowing’s half the battle right?
  3. Salty Snacks.  I should really stop eating chips for meals.
  4. My Camera.  So at least I’m capturing priceless moments and figuring out a way to make some money off of it.  Okay, I lied.  I’m not making any money at all.  Just reimbursing myself for my expensive hobby.  The digital camera age has also been bad for addiction #2.  Can you say post-editing?  (And, yes, I was addicted to my camera before the world went digital.  I can even develop my own film.  But digital is cheaper.)
  5. Multi-tasking.  Refer to addiction #2…again.  I love multiple windows and keyboard shortcuts.  I also like talking on the phone, cooking dinner, and referreeing simultaneously.  I’m such a product of my generation.
  6. Learning.  I’m an information hog.  Maybe that’s why I can’t stop eavesdropping.  Gossip is info…right?  The ability to look anything up on the Internet has not helped addiction #2 or #6.  Someone actually asked if I was a tinsmith the other day when I was explaining to him why tinsnips have such long handles at a demonstration booth.
  7. Reading.  This is only addictive if I’m reading a good book…obviously.  Or if my information hog-self needs to read the latest parenting or community magazine.  I can be a really bad mom if I’m in the middle of a good book (like one by Karen Kingsbury).
  8. Sleeping anywhere.  Not sure if this is so much an addiction as a really bad habit.  I think it’s the Korean in me.  They sleep anywhere too.
  9. Ignoring proper English while blogging. Self-explanatory.

What are your latest addictions?

Found your site via a series of e-mails about Grafted Families… In any event, couldn't resist adding my $0.02 to this post…

I'm definitely addicted to (1) my iPhone… I can't put it down. (2) My computer – love to blog. (3) Home Improvement… love to get the house looking better. (4) Friends (can you be addicted to friends?) and (5) Work, and specifically winning new business at work – love the rush!
