Keeping your marriage strong is so important. During the first year post-placement, our date nights consisted of watching a movie downstairs in our den, with our new 12 year old playing computer in the next room, monitored by our home-grown 14 year old. This couldn’t happen until 3 months post placement, because of our unique adoption circumstances, our new son’s judge required “constant adult sight-supervision” during all waking hours. Our 12 year old daughter took care of the younger girls upstairs.
During the first six months post-placement with both of our adoptions, we were often exhausted.
We often email each other during the day. I let my husband know briefly how I am struggling with our child, and how he can pray for me.
