V.I.P. Week

I think I already mentioned how PJ had his V.I.P. week at school last week–remember the tool cake?  There are two other big things that make V.I.P. week special.

The first is the About Me poster.  During each student’s V.I.P. week, he gets to complete a poster about him to present to the class.  PJ did a great job and even pushed through all the writing… in cursive!  Cursive as a child’s first handwriting “language” is the way to go.  We’ve been so impressed with Redeemer’s curriculum–especially in this area.  That’s probably another post though.  I did have to show him how the letters connected but let’s be honest…he writes in cursive better than Patrick.

The week culminates with the V.I.P. taking Patches the Traveling Bear home.

I have no idea where Mrs. S. comes up with such great ideas but she has raised the bar in teaching 3 year olds and kindergartners.  Yup, both of my kids have her this year and they couldn’t be happier.  Back to Patches.

Patches comes with a journal.  Every student, who takes Patches home, journals about what Patches’ experiences over the weekend.  PJ and Mia had such a fun time looking back to see Patches’ journeys over the past 2 years.

Here’s what Patches did with PJ:

First things first…Patches needed to have a meeting with all of our resident stuffies.

20090327patches000 Stitch Friday was beautiful and we couldn’t pass up an opportunity for Patches to visit Annie’s Playground.  To preserve the cleanliness of Patches, we made him wait in the car after his photo-op.

After Annie’s, we came home to have some “screen time.”  Patches enjoyed beating PJ is 20 out of 30 races in Mario Kart and then took in an episode of the Donut Man.

Saturday afternoon, Patches went fishing with Patrick and PJ.  After all, it was opening day!

Sunday was a big day for Patches.  He attended worship with us.  Then we got to play on the gymnastics equipment at the birthday party that PJ and Mia attended.  Lastly, Patches got to experience a Seder meal led by a professor in Jewish studies.
