    For the rest of us who love our SPD kids, but are not 90 lbs… covering your child’s body with a couch pillow or other large pillow to disperse the weight, then leaning part of your body weight on top works well too. You can sit on his side with your bottom on the floor and arms around him similar to Mel’s position, but perpendicular instead of parallel. Then lean your trunk onto the pillow for cuddle and reading time.

    For kids that respond to deep vibration (fall asleep quickly in cars and strollers) you can use the same positions but use your hands to apply pressure on the pillow and give a gentle rocking/vibration motion.
