As were deciding whether or not to homeschool for next year, Bzz Agent launched a campaign for the Factor Tree–an online, supplemental math website. Convenient, huh?
Here’s what Factor Tree has to say:
What makes the Factor Tree so effective?
- Provides the practice and repetition needed for a child to truly master key math skills
- Use a skill-adaptive progression algorithm to pinpoint each child’s true skill level
- Provides parents with helpful reports, metrics and notifications to track their child’s progress
- Combines a state testing-compliant curriculum, world class educational theories and innovative technology to create a better learning tool
Here are the things we liked:
- Easy to use interface
- Each child gets their own account
- Parents get emailed reports when a child completes an activity
- The algorithm self-places the child so there’s no guess work on where to start
- You can do activities based on topic if you know an area that needs review
Things we weren’t thrilled about:
- One activity seemed to meld into the next so there wasn’t a defined stopping point
- The problems seems dry and boring. They could’ve just done worksheets. I like the computer to provide more enriching media if they’re going to be using it.
- It was pricey for a supplemental program
