I can’t even

[ahy] [kant] [ee-vuh n]: The phrase you use just before going completely and utterly speechless.

When your child has to have a doctor’s note at school to have free access to water (ya know, the thing that is second only to oxygen when it comes to your actual survival, let alone learning). I can’t even.

When multiple professionals tell you that you will have to let your children be harmed badly enough to need medical attention to get the services that your mentally ill child needs. So if, God-forbid, our child commits a violent crime involving a gun, leave the NRA alone. You really have a problem with the policy makers who put some foolishness into practice. For the love of folks who just want to have fresh venison for dinner, I can’t even.

When you are told again and again that because your family makes enough money to care for your children, you will be denied crucial community-based services. These are not even services you can pay for if you want to. They are literally ONLY for poor people. I can’t even.

When your child’s ESL teacher can’t be understood through his accent because he’s not a native speaker. Or when the school enrolls your ESL child in Spanish even though it’s not required. I can’t even.

How has your week been?

I CAN'T EVEN
